"RS" does not refer to "Radio Shack"

It would be helpful to point out that the "RS" in the post-1999 portion of the History section refers to Electrocomponents brand name RadioSpares, and trading as RS Components, not to Allied Electronics's former affiliation with Radio Shack. It appears that Electrocomponents was trading as RS Components since the 1970's, and archive.org shows the earliest web appearance of www.rs-online.com displaying an RS-branded page in 2004. Additional Allied history

This article in EE Times of 2000-05-15 adds some detail (https://www.eetimes.com/allied-electronics-inc/). The article covers the Electrocomponents' (ie: RS's) acquisition of Allied Electronics from Avnet.

"Electrocomponents plc gained a foothold in the U.S. market with the July acquisition of Allied Electronics. And Avnet Inc., while divesting itself of its Allied catalog business, gained a fulfillment partner for small-lot orders." [...]

"Allied has changed hands frequently since its inception in 1928 in Chicago as Allied Radio. In 1962, Allied Radio created Allied Electronics as an industrial-sales division and published the first Allied Electronics Catalog. In 1967, LTV acquired Allied Radio. After becoming part of Tandy Corp., Spartan Manufacturing Co., and Digitech, respectively, Allied in 1986 became a subsidiary of Hall-Mark Electronics, which was acquired by Avnet in 1993."
