More detail needed

Shouldn't we add this detail to this article? The current version doesn't mention the number of files (220 files).

The three-term Republican is accused of using “joebidennnn69” to exchange 220 files of toddlers and young children involved in sex acts on the Kik social media network for about five days in spring 2024, according to court documents that graphically detailed the videos.

The files at the center of the case were uploaded and downloaded using May’s home wifi network and his cellphone, prosecutors said. Some were hidden by the use of a private network, but others were directly linked to his internet addresses.

Some back and forth about 'sex offender' and conviction status

Some back and forth about 'sex offender' status. I did several undos where editors are putting things in before they legally have taken place. Other editors are free to chime in here.ProfessorKaiFlai (talk) 02:58, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

I agree with the removal; include the fact of his conviction in the lead for sure, probably in the first sentence as well, but not with this specific wording. I would suggest phrasing like "RJ May is an American former politician who was removed from office after pleading guilty to [crime(s)] in 2025," similar to the wording User:Springee suggested on WP:BLPN. Agree that this can be phrased better than "and convicted sex offender." I think the lead can be shortened significantly, since half of it is taken up with not that relevant details and timeline of his indictment, suspension, resignation, and guilty plea. Unless something very unusual happens, it is likely that in the future RJ May will be known mostly as a disgraced former politician imprisoned for sexual crimes. Maybe something like this for the lead: Robert John 'RJ' May III (born October 18, 1986) is an American former politician. In 2025, he left office and pled guilty to distributing child sexual abuse material.
