I would argue that both links are of value to the reader. Disk array is a hypernym of RAID, and both are relevant to the definition of the headword. Meanwhile, the nature of the topic is hidden behind the opaque acronym RAID; disk array elucidates it. As for linking the term and not just using it: It's unsafe to assume that all readers know the meaning of a technical term like disk array.
