The lead section offers a good general overview of RAG1. I think mentioning that the RAG1 recognizes a conserved region of the heptamer is important because every time VDJ rearrangement occurs it will always recognize the same nucleotide sequence. Also, including which immune cells undergo VDJ arrangement adds some more detail to the lead. As you develop your article more, a picture or diagram will be helpful to visualize the RAG1 role, adding a couple more references, and an example of the diseases associated with RAG1 defect are some possible ideas to explore. I agree that the lead section is strong. I think it might be worth writing a new section specifically dedicated to discussing some of the diseases that can arise when the RAG1/RAG2 genes are mutated. It might also be worth briefly discussing some of the physical features of the enzyme complex, and how these features allow it to recognize RSSs and bind to them and not any other sequence. A diagram of the interaction between the RAG1/RAG2 enzyme complex and an RSS might be helpful when discussing their interaction. Immcarle31 (talk) 23:04, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
