Splitting Quezon: remove?

[edit source]

While Quezon Province has been scheduled for a plebiscite, it seems that hasn't happened yet as there are no recent news reports about it. If it has, I think it the people there voted "no" to splitting the province, judging from my recent visit to Calauag almost two weeks ago in May. Is it time to remove the "Splitting Quezon" section, or just modify the section? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 04:37, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shopping Malls

[edit source]

Are shopping malls so important to the province that a simple list of malls deserves its own section? I don't think so. Dumping them below. --Mercurio (talk) 01:20, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • SM City Lucena
  • Pacific Mall Lucena
  • Ocean Palace Mall
  • Carlos City Center
  • Sioland Shopping Complex - Candelaria
  • Quezon Town Center - Closed since 2010
  • La Suerte Mega Warehouse
  • Metro Gaisano - Lucenaz
  • UNITOP

QuezonQuezon (province) – "Quezon" alone is ambiguous. Both Quezon province and Manuel Luis Quezon have equal footing in primary topic hierarchy. "Quezon" is best used as a disambiguation page and this article be moved to "Quezon (province)". [Move request made via Twinkle.] JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 22:37, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Tayabas

[edit source]

@Kali Igba could you provide examples that "Tayabas" is still used to refer to Quezon province in a modern context and not the city of Tayabas? Hariboneagle927 (talk) 12:19, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

1963 shooting of Rep. Eladio Caliwara

Should this be removed from the article? Halaga left an ES: Not relevant to history. Off-topic Article section as of 22:02, 5 December 2025 (UTC) Adakiko (talk) 22:02, 5 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • Remove - it doesn't seem like a significant part of the regions history, with no lasting impact on the region. Cheers Markbassett (talk) 04:32, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Remove - (Summoned by bot) it doesn't seem like a significant part of the regions history, with no lasting impact on the region.per Markbassett above. But has there been any prior discussion about this? If not the RfC is unnecessary and the text can simply be removed per WP:BRD. Pincrete (talk) 06:38, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep - @Markbassett: We can't really conclude that it did not have a lasting impact in the region unless there's more scholarship to be found on the province during the 1960s and 1970s. However, there is this fact: Congressman Caliwara, the person whom Governor Claro Robles nearly assassinated in 1963, would later become governor himself in the 1980s, and the province's history would have went in a different direction had he been killed early on. LionFosset (talk) 23:49, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
User:LionFosset -- thanks for the ping. The attempt failed so no such impact actually occurred, and what RS say about what actually happened is insufficient to support inclusion in the article. Cheers Markbassett (talk) 05:45, 7 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Just "Quezon"?

[edit source]

I wonder if the province being the primary topic for "Quezon" (as established in the 2023 discussion) is impacted by the 2025 biopic about Manuel L. Quezon. I took a look at pageviews data from January 1 to April 30, 2026, the province has almost 30,000 views while the film is at nearly 18,000. For good measure, I also checked the Manuel L. Quezon article, and it had 62,000 views within the same timeframe.

I was originally going to do a move request, but I feel that more data might be needed. At the time of writing, the film is two months off its streaming release, so it might cause the data to have the film and the president have more views, so maybe in a few months I could come back to this. At this moment, it's just a case of "Quezon" becoming more ambiguous. MarcusAbacus (talk) 03:15, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
