Some areas with 3-D effects can be identified (e.g., near Volcan Quetena at distance of 40 km on the Bolivia section, and at isolated stations and at long periods on the Argentina profile).

There are no geothermal power plants in Bolivia, but seven areas bordering on Chile are considered prospects. They are: Sajama...Quetena. No deep wells have been drilled yet.

Triassic volcanic and sedimentary units include the Quetena, Observatorio and Cerros de Chuquicamata Sequences [in Chile] (Tomlinson and Blanco, 2008).

@RabidTuberculosis I really want to approve this, it looks interesting. There are two unsourced statements in the article, which should be removed or else cited to a source. The first states "The Quetena River rises near the volcano and flows north, eventually joining the Río Grande de Lípez and draining into the Salar de Uyuni." The second unsourced statement says "The surrounding area, part of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, is visited by tourists travelling through the Sur Lípez region, and Quetena Chico and Quetena Grande serve as waypoints for guided climbs of the higher, more frequently visited Uturuncu." Also, the source does not state "Quetena is the tallest fissure-vent volcano in the world." NewAccount7295 (talk) 03:59, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
- @NewAccount7295: Thanks for your thorough review! Added references to both statements, and modified the wording to more closely match the sources. The Quetena River line now cites an open-source science journal and I split the tourism line into two sentences after trimming content a bit. To the last point, the Smithsonian's GVP survey lists every documented volcano (Holocene or Pleistocene epoch) on the planet by type, and lists Quetena as the tallest fissure-vent. The database does not make statements but the data is otherwise unambiguous, so I've left it in the article with a link to the complete database. Please let me know if you have other comments! Good to see them sourced now! I'm going to see what another reviewer thinks and ask for ALT3 to be chosen when that happens, although I think "potential area" should be changed to "viable area". The article has pretty good DYK potential. NewAccount7295 (talk) 02:22, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
