Hospital Info Recommendation

[edit]

Hi all,

Justing flagging the last paragraph in the Bio background section about Cook’s role in hospital privatization. Right now it occupies about 25% of that bio section. For a BLP, I think this might be giving the topic more weight than needed for a BLP.

Per WP:BLP and WP:UNDUE, negative material should be carefully balanced and included if it’s clearly a significant part of the subject’s public profile. Most coverage by media organizations of Cook seems to focus on his legal and executive career in general, rather than on this specific controversy.

I’d suggest we either trim it back to a sentence or two that acknowledges the issue or consider removing it if consensus is that it’s not central to his notability.

Here’s one possible trimmed version to consider:

During his legal and executive career in California’s healthcare sector, Cook was involved in hospital privatization efforts that drew some public criticism at the time.

This way, the article still notes that there was some controversy, but it doesn’t go into excessive detail. Thoughts?Dakotacoda (talk) 21:21, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
