slight confusion

[edit]

is this the same type of coupling as when a photon couples with an electron (thus increasing the electron's energy)? Pjbeierle (talk) 21:55, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Benzene Section

[edit]

The section about benzene is completely wrong, and whoever wrote it misunderstands the bonding in benzene. There is no basis to say that its bonding situation is a series of alternating single and double bonds that are, somehow, in superposition. The electrons reside in delocalized molecular orbitals, and the "bond order" is 1.5 between carbon atoms. There is nothing magical, mysterious, or illusory about this fact.

I'm removing the entire section talking about benzene, as it really gives no good information.
