Since the origin of this article in 2006, the lizardy Protorothyrididae have been introduced as "the possible ancestors of turtles and tortoises". In the Amniote, Eureptilia and Romeriida article, Protorothyrididae are grouped (with references) quite deeply in the Eureptilia clade, which is a sister group of the Anapsid ancestors of turtles and tortoises. The Protorothyrididae are admitted to be probably paraphyletic, but I doubt that one could mix Eureptilia and Anapsids in one family. I'm not an expert, but I believe it more likely that the first sentence instead should be "Protorothyrididae was a family of small, lizard-like reptiles, possibly including the ancestors of all birds, crocodiles, lizards, and snakes."
