My first request is to update the membership and volunteer statistics in the infobox; change the "Type" field from "Professional organization" to "Nonprofit professional organization"; and update the source for the CEO field since it is an unreliable source and copied from a press release. @MK at PMI:, you can go ahead and implement the edits. Please place the sources in the "footnotes section" instead of after each statement as this is the standard practice for company information boxes. Also, you can use a primary source (the company website) if you are looking to support key people or uncontroversial information that just needs verified. • Request: I propose deleting the current Overview section and instead adding the following information to the end of the History section:

PMI has more than five million professionals including 746,689 members in 217 countries and territories, with 303 chapters and 14,359 volunteers in 180 countries as of 2025.

Introduction and updating the Certifications section

Hi editors! My name is MaryKate, and I'm employed by Project Management Institute. I am back to request some changes to the article. I didn't receive many responses on my last request, so I'm hoping to move on for now. Also notifying CNMall41 again, in case you're interested in taking a look at this new request.

• Request 1: I would like to update the first paragraph of the introduction to reflect PMI's headquarters location, global presence, foundation year, and 501(c)(6) status.

Introduction

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global nonprofit professional organization established in 1969 in Pennsylvania, United States, by a group of project managers aiming to standardize project management practices internationally. The organization is headquartered in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, and operates in the United States as a 501(c)(6) organization.

• Request 2: The current Certifications section is outdated, filled with primary sources, and dead links. I've drafted an updated version of this section using reliable sources, and without using bulleted lists. This turns the section into prose, and makes the content a bit more evergreen. See below.

Certifications

In 1984, PMI held its first Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam. The organization published the first edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) in 1996, which was recognized as a standard by the American National Standards Institute in 1999. During the 2000s, PMI expanded its certification services to include the Program Management Professional (PgMP) and Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).

As of 2024, PMI is best known for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Its other certifications include CAPM, PMI-ACP, PMI-CPMAI, PgMP, and PfMP.

Partly done: For the certifications section I began rewriting this. I agree the list of redlinks was not helpful and I have removed it. Could you say if any information is still out of date? Aloneinthewild (talk) 10:21, 5 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for taking the time to revise this section—I think the prose reads much better now and removing the long list of red links definitely improves readability.

I reviewed the updated text and, from my perspective, the remaining content appears generally accurate. I would suggest one small update to keep it current:

In the second paragraph, PMI's certification portfolio has expanded beyond the certifications currently listed. In addition to PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, PMI-CPMAI, PgMP, and PfMP, PMI also offers certifications such as PMI-RMP, PMI-SP, PMI-PBA, and PMI-GCP. Rather than maintaining a complete list—which may become outdated over time—it may be more sustainable to describe PMI as offering "a range of certifications in project, program, portfolio, risk, business analysis, scheduling, construction, agile and AI project management," with a citation to PMI's current certifications page: https://www.pmi.org/certifications

COI request: add subsection on the Authorized Training Partner (ATP) program

COI disclosure: I work at an organization that is itself a PMI Authorized Training Partner. Because of that financial interest I am proposing this addition on the Talk page rather than editing the article directly, per WP:COIEDIT.

PMI's Authorized Training Partner (ATP) program is a major program offered by the Institute (500+ partners globally as of 2024) and is currently not mentioned anywhere in this article. I propose adding a short, neutral subsection under "Programs" or "Activities":
