Yeah I'm immediately having second-thoughts about the title. While it is sometimes used as the name for the desegregation campaign, it is just a mouth-full. I think "Desegregation in Cuba" is a bit too historically expansive of a title though (I believe it would encapsulate desgregation efforts that happened in the early 1900s as well). But from some reading I see "Proclamation Against Discrimination" as the most-used phrase for Castro's speech for his plan to end social segregation in the early 1960s. I think that's much short name than "Battle to end racial discrimination at the workplace". Should we change it to "Proclamation Against Discrimination"? I think it makes some sense to name it after the proclamation, since the resultant campaign came from there. It may be more accurate to refer to it as a specific campaign, though—like "Cuban desegregation campaign" ꧁Zanahary꧂ 01:14, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

I'd name it something simple like "Cuban desegregation campaign" if that was the name most used in the historical literature, but alas, its not used (at least to my searches). If we renamed the page "Proclamation Against Discrimination", all the info about the following legal campaign would definitely stay in as it is incredibly relevant. I could also get lots of sources referring to the march 1959 speech with that title to back up the choice in titling. Mangokeylime (talk) 02:09, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

My last comment... I think "Cuban desegregation campaign" might still be a bit vague regarding periodization because there were multiple efforts throughout Cuban history to desegregate the country. Some done under Prio and later Batista (at least according to little things I've been reading). If you don't mind, can we change it to "Proclamation Against Discrimination" because that title is more succinctly tied to the 1959-1961 desegregation period. Also, should we perhaps wait for a third opinion, or is this page so fresh that few people are interested in the matter. Thanks again, for your thoughts. I'm seeing some scholarly sources using Proclamation Against Discrimination referring to this specifically (Mangokeylime's suggestion), but it may be a bit ambiguous with Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. I'd support it if we did an {{About}} hatnote for that Kowal2701 (talk) 22:33, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
