No longer free

[edit]

I am sad to report that promed- mail is no longer free. I think it is a bad idea to charge for ProMed . I talked to a Former moderator who thinks it is a good idea . Also they had some problems after Larry (ISID) left as the head of ProMed. Apparently the woman who took over did not play well with others and the moderators actually went out on strike for a while. This would be an interesting story to cover it in this Wikipedia article about ProMed. When ProMed first started it was just an email list. When I started helping with the technical side of things it was on a Harvard server. Over the years they've gone with more expensive technology and fancy web pages and now they feel they must charge for the service. In the past you can get a list of all the subject lines for all the posts for a given year and search through them easily. When they stopped providing that before they started to charge for the service it became much harder to search for a given disease or condition on the website. In my opinion they have not improved promed since it came off the Harvard server . ~2026-28087-34 (talk) 12:31, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
