Based on material currently at Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, there apparently is some question about Haile Selassie's biological relationship to Romanework. Citations & sources are needed. -- llywrch 18:32, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

No serious Ethiopian historian, nor any member of the Imperial family itself has ever questioned the fact that Princess Romanework is indeed the eldest child of Emperor Haile Selassie. Indeed the only place it is questioned is in Wikipedia, which considering the nature of this site, is not suprising. It is relatively simple to go on the Crown Council of Ethiopia's website and ask them directly if this is a fact and I encourage you to do so. User:Sendeq

Sendeq, I am not questioning your accuracy; I've found that you are correct many times before. The problem is one of sources. We could have someone claiming to be the "foremost expoert" on Ethiopia add a mountain of misinformation without providing citations & sources, & insist that it's not necessary because "everyone knows its true" -- which will only put the rest of us under the pressure of a deadline to work on uncovering the citations & sources that we should have added in the first place to disprove his lies & fantasies. If you say she is widely known to be his illegitimate daughter, then it should be easy to prove at least a link at the bottom for further research. -- llywrch 23:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I never said that H.I.H. was an illegitimate daughter. That is exactly my arguement. She is a legitimate daughter and is listed as such in the Almanach de Bruxelles not to mention the official family tree of the Ethiopian Imperial Family published in 1930. I have stated this repeatedly. I don't think one can find more reputable sources than those two. User:Sendeq

The reason this is uncertain is because in all contemporary documents including those by the Emperor himself, whenever he listed his marriages and biological children, he never listed her, nor did he ever list any marriage aside from that to Empress Menen. All of the allegations that he had another marriage, or biological children with someone else come from subsequently published voices. It is possible that she could have been an adopted by the Imperial couple but questionable and unconvincing that she is his biological child since the sources at the time including his own writings don't mention another wife or biological child from another woman beside Empress Menen.
