There are examples of preventive war in antiquity as Romans against Celts and Germanics and Chinese against Tocharians. I can't edit this since Eurocentric censors are reversing all my edits. 2804:14C:5BD7:AE55:4558:E645:695:A56D (talk) 12:24, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Given that Putin did it to "prevent genocide" and to "keep Ukraine from developing a nuclear weapon" (those were the official reasons), wouldn't this qualify as a preventive war? Whether these claims are true or not is immaterial, see Iraq. --91.64.56.126 (talk) 15:46, 13 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Despite sometimes called the battle of Mers El Khebir .

The British agression on the French fleet in July of 1940 could be classified as an early example of preventive strikes .

Simarlry mosr action against Vichy during the war were not 100 % justified or was not an legitimate act of war .

Mers El Khebir , Dakar , invasion Lebanon and Syria , Madagascar .
