Has it survived?

Yes, the grand re-opening, in commemoration of the band's 45th anniversary is going to be held April 27-28. While I did not specifically look for Preservation Hall, on a recent trip to New Orleans I was very closeby, and all the buildings in the immediate area are intact. --MMan710 03:21, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

you'd think such a grand place, I mean, to someone a thousand miles away and who's never been anywhere near the city and still heard of the business.. you'd think they'd have at least one cite. Bill and Ted Face the Music

If that is not the real Preservation Hall in Bill and Ted Face the Music they did a remarkable job of duplicating it. I swear I spotted the bench where I sat in January. Hurricane IDA damage and final collapse August 24th 2022

Preservation Hall 1644 N. Villere St. in New Orleans' 7th Ward, has collapsed the hole in the roof and the side walls that were temporarily braced, fully gave way within the past 2 days according to the article below.

That was Perseverance Hall, not Preservation Hall - completely different building in a different part of New Orleans.

Preservation All-Stars

The article revers to a "house band," and later, in the foundation section, refers to the tours of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. A reader who doesn't know otherwise would assume that the latter is the House Band, but it's the Preservation All-Stars who pay there every night, and they play a different style -- much more traditional than PHJB. Because PHJB is mentioned in the article, I think the Preservation All-Stars should be named as the "house band" at the top. Any disagreement? I'm asking before I make an edit because it's my first edit on the topic of music. Dsmithorew (talk) 05:49, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Decades of records (mostly in the old style) used the same "Preservation Hall Jazz Band" name, which were made up mostly of "house band" regulars. The current touring band with the more modern style is also made up mostly of regular "house band" folks. I might be worth mentioning this new approach of recording and touring with modern/original material, but I don't want to retcon all of the past records and pretend they weren't also called the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
