Unreferenced tag
[edit]I added some references. Some of them are links to commercial sites, but I think they are acceptable as they confirm the content of the article, and the industrials cited are leader (or among the most importants) in their domain. The other references are academic, peer-reviewed, papers. Therefore, I removed the unreferenced tag. -- CyrilB 20:07, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
rename
[edit]Could we rename this article from "Power electronic substrate" to "electronic substrate". (Or would "substrate (electronic)" be better ?)
Then we would have a single article that explains what "substrate" means in electronics ("The solid layer that mechanically holds everything in position"). That would be a good place to compare and contrast the various kinds of substrates (silicon, silicon-on-sapphire, fiberglass-in-epoxy PCB, thick ceramic, metal, etc.).

- Well... I think the various substrates you mention are widely different: Silicon, SOS... are chip substrates; PCB, thick ceramic... are electronics substrates; and the ones in the article are power electronics substrates. Although I can agree that electronics and power electronics substrates can be addressed in the same article, this is not true for the chip substrates, which are widely different.
- In my opinion, it is better to create an article about the substrates (if it doesn't exist yet), and link Power electronic substrate from it rather than rename the existing article. CyrilB 18:27, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
