Punk? Yes, but more Metal

I can’t say how this band defined themselves, but after listening to them, and seeing some videos, they had great talent to be sure, but the sound is mostly metal. It’s heavy guitar-based straight outta the garage, but the extended noise guitar solos show a metal style that puts them decidedly in that category. The time they came on, the rougher sounds were becoming more popular, and some people don’t like the idea that grunge was an offshoot of metal, since they don’t see the latter as anything beyond the Glam stuff. Yet all those guys were listening to Sabbath, AC/DC, KISS, etc. I’d recommend adding a nod in that direction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sychonic (talk • contribs) 13:59, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

Genre misinformation

"It became known as 'punk' and arrived in Australia with the Saints and Radio Birdman. It was that first wave of punk, not the 'hardcore punk' (that came out of the USA after the Sex Pistols) that fans recognised as being in the marrow of the Powder Monkeys." - Hardcore punk came out of the UK, following on from Crass, Doom and Chaos UK. Hardcore (without the "punk") came from America. Americans often misunderstand this, as do people with a partial understanding of the whole punk genre.
