Citation amendment under "Tattoos"

[edit]

There are a few assertations made which would benefit from citation under the 'tattoos' section. For example: "Post has a number of tattoos that he inked himself and has also inked tattoos on several friends and acquaintances[114], inspired by Justin Bieber. A citation is needed to support the assertation that Post Malone was inspired by Bieber, otherwise it would be speculative. Similarly, the sentences "He has tattoos on his hand and fingers of artists who have influenced him.CX is the best clan" and "In recognition of the 2nd Amendment,[115] he has a tattoo on his triceps of a snake encoiled around a rifle" both require citation for the same reasons. Jecsea (talk) 00:24, 16 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is describing the number and origins and meanings of his tattoos really encyclopedic content? George H. W. Bush had a tattoo, and his page doesn't even mention it. A Wikipedia page shouldn't be a fan page or a trivia collection. 69.128.140.82 (talk) 15:15, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Laconic vocal style"?

[edit]

What does that mean? "Laconic" usually refers to a phrase that uses few words in a short and concise way to convey a broader meaning (source 1, source 2). Needs clarification imo.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.228.0.192 (talk) 21:21, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Looks like the word "laconic" has been replaced with "variegated." Maybe we should edit it to say, "There is currently active debate in scholarly circles regarding Post Malone's vocal style, with critics largely divided into two camps: Laconicists, who describe his vocal style as containing few words, and Variegationists, who describe it has having multiple colors." And then we can link to the separate articles for Laconicism and Variegationism.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Danwillis58 (talkcontribs) 17:48, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Singer instead of rapper

[edit]

@Billiekhalidfan: @Ss112: @Binksternet: @Deathawk: I know Post Malone supposed be a "rapper" but he sings more then he raps, I think it would be better to called him a singer then a rapper. The artist don't even considered himself a rapper. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 23:01, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

What do all the sources call him? Binksternet (talk) 04:53, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Binksternet: After I take a second look at these sources , they explicitly called him as a rapper. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 00:32, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, only GQ called him a "rapper", not the other 2. I looked at them. Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 06:49, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Binksternet: It doesn't matter if those three sources call him a rapper, he's more of a singer, so can somebody here please change Post Malone's occupation to "singer, songwriter, and record producer" or "singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer"? User:AndrewTheLogoMakerAndrewTheLogoMaker (talk)

Sources are wrong. He hasn't rapped a day in his life. It doesn't matter if you call him it. He explicitely said he is not a rapper as well.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.42.4.48 (talk) 05:13, 9 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I agree with SineBot. Malone specifically said that he wasn't a hip-hop artist either. In fact, he even refused to join the XXL magazine's class of 2016 because he didn't want to be labeled as a hip-hop artist. Collaborating with legitimate rap artists and using trap beats doesn't make you a rapper. This is the same reason why I don't consider Ty Dolla Sign or Kid Cudi as rappers. They are just singers. https://hiphopdx.com/news/id.39257/title.post-malone-ignored-xxl-freshman-because-he-didnt-want-to-fly-to-new-york Anfwepngrwfinre

Transition to "person"

[edit]

Hello guys.

First of all, I'd like to start by saying that we should put this article under "person" template as he's not only a musical artist but an actor as well.

He's scheduled to star in a new film soon and has done voice roles. I think we should transition Post Malone to a person. Hopefully it made sense.

Please give me your opinion/thoughts on it.

Thank you

Smart Rolls-Royce?

Post's white Rolls-Royce was driving through ...

This makes it sound like nobody was responsible for the crash because the car was driving itself around town. I'm not really interested in correcting this article, but I wanted to point out that this is really sloppy grammar. Maybe someone more interested in Post Malone could try to improve it just a little bit. I noticed it too, the wording is not ideal. It does reflect the source article though, which seems to be trying to be objective and not accuse anyone of causing an accident, and avoid suggesting or implying that Malone was necessarily the one who was driving the vehicle at the time. -- 109.76.215.105 (talk) 03:03, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Question: Hi IP, is this about changing the order of the four genres listed in the infobox? Btw, in case you have an edit request for a protected article, it's best to make use of the {{edit semi-protected}} template or use the edit request wizard. This will place the article in a special category and ensures that another user will review the request at some stage.– NJD-DE (talk) 18:15, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Post Malone Article Edit Request

[edit]

There are a few things about this article that needs cleaning up. First of all, the infobox says "Rapper · singer · songwriter · record producer · actor · guitarist", but the article says "American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor", and needs to list "rapper" first like AllMusic does. Secondly, the short description thing needs to say "American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from Texas". And thirdly, the music genres in the infobox need to say "Hip hop · pop · R&B · trap · pop rock", because Post Malone's music is mostly hip hop, and only pop on some occasions.

Other Ventures - update about card game

[edit]

Headlines were made recently when the company ran another (unrelated) promotion involving J.R.R. Tolkien's estate. As a part of the promotion one of the many thousands of copies of the card representing "The One Ring" was replaced with single copy in Elvish and using an alternate art style. When this card was found by a Toronto-area player there were many purchase offers, mostly from resellers. The Canadian player decided to sell to Post Malone, possibly because of his high publicity enjoyment of the game. The sale was reported as being for a stunning $2.8 million USD. Here's one of multiple news stories I saw covering the discovery & sale to Post Malone, most interested because of the involvement of the celebrity. https://www.npr.org/2023/08/03/1191841285/post-malone-bought-magic-gathering-mtg-one-ring-card-million 2600:1702:1560:A5B0:51BA:9FC2:B2FA:EB36 (talk) 07:35, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

He's not a rapper at all.

[edit]

Not only he says that in Interviews, but even some reliable sources, including NPR, claims that he isn't a rapper. The only reason why other reliable sources call him a rapper is due to the fact that team behind him thinks he's rapper due to the vocals. Keep that in mind that, even though Wikipedia really needs sources, some sites don't make it truth about them claiming he's a rapper when in reality he isn't.

Also, even though Post Malone said he isn't a rapper, you added "rapper" all because of what the sources said. Post Malone cannot be a rapper, in fact there's one reliable source that he claims he's not a rapper. Here's a link: https://www.npr.org/2024/08/15/g-s1-17039/post-malone-f-1-trillion-country-hip-hop#:~:text=%E2%80%9CI'm%20not%20a%20rapper,wary%20of%20strict%20genre%20labels. But yeah, he isn't a rapper to begin with. It's like saying that Ty Dolla Sign isn't a rapper despite what everyone else thinks of that, and even reliable sources claims that he isn't a rapper at all. Just because Post Malone is a hip-hop artist, doesn't necessarily mean he has to be called a rapper. That's all. Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 12:28, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just because Post Malone himself doesn't consider himself a rapper, doesn't mean we can't include if. Especially if there are reliable sources that call him a rapper. I do get where this argument comes from. He is definitely more of a singer but we can call him a rapper too. Bowling is life (talk) 14:09, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
You only wanna call him rapper because of what the sources say. If sources didn't call him a rapper, this would’ve not happened. I get it what your sayin and it's justified given that Wikipedia needs sources since it's not a reliable source. But you gotta understand that. That stuff doesn't make it truth. You think Interviews isn't a source?Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 17:44, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh and BTW, outside of Post himself, for people in general, even if their not really rappers, what's the point of calling them rappers? Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 22:39, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, to be honest, if Post Malone got his name from a rap name generator and his music is mainly hip-hop besides pop, R&B, trap, country, etc., then he should be known as a rapper first, then a singer, even if he doesn't rap on any of his songs these days, calling him a hip-hop singer is, in my opinion, kinda ridiculous. AndrewTheWikiEditor (talk) 01:07, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
That fact that you said doesn't exuse anything. He doesn't have to be called a rapper all because of that. We say Ty Dolla Sign is a rap name, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's labeled as a rapper, and were not even supposed to call him a rapper either. For Post Malone, just because his music is primarily hip hop doesn't necessarily mean he's has to be a rapper. Idk why you think that there supposed to be called rappers over making hip hop music despite the fact that don't even rap at all. Like come on. Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 06:24, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
On the top of that, no has to be necessarily called a rapper over making hip hop music (if only if it was singing). Mr.Shadow514 (talk) 06:26, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Look, I don't want to argue with you about this, alright? Post Malone should be called a rapper first, then a singer, even if he doesn't rap on any of his songs, he's kind of a rapper-turned-singer, like T-Pain for example, he was a rapper in a group called Nappy Headz before transitioning to a singer, and nowadays he raps occasionally. As for Ty Dolla Sign, he's still mainly a singer, but I call him a singer and a rapper because it sounds like he's rapping on some of his songs. I think it would be a good inclusion to add a public image section to this page. A number of articles have been written about how Post Malone is known for his friendly public image, with many clips of him doing something nice or having positive fan interactions going viral online.

Musician

[edit]

I think Post Malone should be known as a musician. For example, the occupation list in the infobox should say "musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor", the short description should say "American musician" instead of "American rapper and singer", and it should say "Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, is an American musician". Occupations in the lead sentence

[edit]

There seems to be disagreement over the occupations that should be included in the lead, and I want to settle this here and reach a consensus. @Yetneberk Hailu:, I reverted your edits because you didn't explain why you removed them. I would like to know why you removed the other occupations, because I am willing to reach a consensus or revert myself if I am wrong. Now that I am looking closer at the list of occupations, I feel we could, at the very least, remove actor from both the lead and the infobox. He is not well known as an actor, and it's not what makes him notable. Bowling is life (talk) 18:37, 18 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 2 April 2026

[edit]

Back in the early 2010's, Austin formed a band called Love in Colors, an indie alternative band based in Grapevine, Texas. The band was composed of 5 Grapevine High School students, including Austin Post and Connor Musch. Post’s Band recorded 4 songs, which appeared on iTunes at one point. During their concerts, they would perform their own songs as well as covers, including "Grouplove" and "Float On" by Modest Mouse, and "We Are Young" by fun. One of their performances included Grapevine, Texas’s Main Street Days in 2013. They also performed at the Palace Theatre on Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Day Creature (talk) 17:27, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but Reddit and Instagram posts and YouTube videos aren't reliable sources. Unless this band has received coverage in reliable secondary sources, such as music publications, it can't be included in the article. Day Creature (talk) 19:30, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

This is a self-published blog that doesn't qualify as a reliable source, and in any case it only supports a very small part of your proposed addition. Day Creature (talk) 02:12, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
