Contradiction with oxyceros genius page. Grow only in Asia???? 2400:4051:C0A4:1700:38CA:6248:B15:84E (talk) 23:26, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect name

[edit]

This article was originally written about Posoqueria longiflora Aubl., but it was incorrectly moved, probably after being confused with Posoqueria longiflora (Lam.) Roxb., a synonym of Oxyceros longiflorus. I have requested the page be moved back here. —Junglenut ☼ Talk 04:26, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Removing sentence on Amphimoea walkeri-pollination speculation

[edit]

I am going to delete the sentence "It is pollinated by a sphinx moth, possibly Amphimoea walkeri (Sphingidae) which has a 28 cm (11 in) proboscis." on possible pollination by the moth Amphimoea walkeri, because I doubt that the source that is provided actually discusses Posoqueria longiflora pollination.
The title of the source was very badly misspelled as "Die Schwarmer Mil Clem Langsten Russel" instead of "Amphimoea walkeri Bsd., der Schwärmer mit dem längsten Rüssel" and I would say that this doesn't inspire confidence in the provided text in the article.
Now I haven't read the study myself, because I currently do not have access to this publication, but due to the obvious errors in the title in the citation, I have doubts that the provided text is accurate. I believe the source probably only supports the information on the "28 cm (11 in) proboscis" and not the part on pollination of Posoqueria longiflora flowers.
If you have read the study and I am wrong, please feel free to correct me and reinstate the sentence as it was. But for now, I think the sentence should only indicate hawk moth-pollination, which is well-supported by other sources.

I have previously pondered this statement and tried to find the source myself, without success. The editor who added it has a habit of making extraordinary claims with poor support. I am happy to have the sentence removed. 🌳 Junglenut · Talk 21:45, 14 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
