hi I m student of mechanical engineering & i m trying to collect some material regarding heat transfer in porous media if any body have it pls provide me

There is a bit about heat transfer in aquifers in Domenico & Schwartz, but it is limited (see references at end of hydrogeology).
There would be some material in the field of geothermal pumps; there would also be some material in the field of permafrost and frozen soil. I have heard of some heat transfer related research in connection with evaporation of soil water in deep vadose zones. --kris 02:10, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
PS: This isn't really a good place to ask that type of question and you might get more help elsewhere if you phrase your question clearly.

Foams are not porous media?

[edit]

Granzer92 (talk) 05:03, 2 July 2019 (UTC) In the intro to this topic there is a sentence "but structures like foams are often also usefully analyzed using concept of porous media". So does this mean that foams are not porous media but they can still be analysed using the concept of porous media? On the other hand if it is a porous media this point is moot.Reply

Proposal to add information on image-based modeling

[edit]

Hello everyone,

As a researcher in this field, I would like to propose an addition to this article. (Full disclosure: I am an author of the paper I am suggesting as a source).

In the Models section, the article currently mentions that "x-ray tomography" is an experimental method for investigating pore structures. I believe it would be beneficial to add a sentence explaining what is done with this tomographic data, specifically regarding its use in numerical simulations to calculate bulk properties. Here is the text I suggest adding directly after the sentence mentioning x-ray tomography:

The 3D data from these imaging techniques can be used directly for numerical simulations. This approach, known as image-based modeling, allows for the calculation of macroscopic transport properties, such as effective diffusivity or permeability, by solving physical equations within the complex pore geometry. Mathematical methods like homogenization are often applied to derive these bulk parameters from the micro-structural details. This information would be supported by the following citation: [1]

I believe this adds valuable, up-to-date context that elaborates on a point already in the article. Please let me know your thoughts.
