Proposed "Cosmetic applications" section

The article currently covers medical applications of PDRN but does not address its growing use in cosmetic and topical skincare products. Given that multiple peer-reviewed papers specifically address PDRN's role in cosmeceuticals (see Nguyen et al. 2024, Int J Biol Macromol), I propose adding a brief section:

Cosmetic and topical applications

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties and stimulation of collagen synthesis, PDRN has been investigated for cosmetic applications including anti-aging skincare and skin rejuvenation.[1] Topical formulations of PDRN have been studied for their ability to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and reduce wrinkle depth.[2] The molecule's mechanism — activating adenosine A2A receptors to upregulate fibroblast activity — makes it particularly relevant for age-related skin changes, where fibroblast senescence reduces natural collagen production.[3] PDRN is distinct from common anti-aging ingredients such as retinoids and peptides in that it provides nucleotide substrates for DNA repair pathways rather than stimulating surface cell turnover.[4]
