Inclusion of specialist vehicles that are not necessarily police cars in the section titled Types

[edit]

That section of the article currently has subsections about other kinds of police vehicles that are not normally cars. The Bomb disposal vehicle subsection is an example. They could be removed and added to the Police transport article. Dreddmoto (talk) 18:39, 30 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not a bad idea at all 10mmsocket (talk) 18:59, 30 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I think most of the information on the specialist vehicles could be moved elsewhere with a "Further information:" tag on top of their sections, followed by one sentence or so quickly summarizing what they are. Something like that. AdoTang (talk) 17:33, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

10mmsocket and AdoTang, thanks for your views.

AdoTang, your suggestion is one possibility. Another one would be to add a "Further information:" or "See also:" tag at the top of the section titled Types. Then the subsections about other kinds of police vehicles could be removed from this article and added to the Police transport article.

Which of those suggestions would be most helpful? --Dreddmoto (talk) 00:44, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

So another suggestion. Merge Police transport into this article and rename it "Police vehicle". Thus every type of police vehicle is in one place and all the different types can be seen on the one page. It wouldn't be much longer than it is now and it would, I believe, give the reader a much better experience. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:30, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
10mmsocket, that's a good idea. That should be what is chosen. I can help with it. Dreddmoto (talk) 20:47, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Suggest WP:BOLD! 10mmsocket (talk) 21:54, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

10mmsocket I'm not familiar with merging articles. How should it be done? Dreddmoto (talk) 16:52, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

question

[edit]

is there an article for the practice of flipping a vehicle onto its roof to disable it, particularly as relates to police vehicles? Arlo James Barnes 18:28, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

What? I guess flipping a car over would easily disable it regardless of what the car is, but what does that have to do with police vehicles? Are you asking for instructions on how to flip a police car over? AdoTang (talk) 17:47, 8 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the lead image stack

[edit]

Every single time I open this article I see that the lead images are always different. I have no idea why this is happening. I would imagine people are driven by national pride and keep elevating their country/state/province/city's police cars to the top?

When I was adding the lead gallery I was going for a more encyclopedic collage of police cars of different types from different continents. So like, a sedan from North America, SUV from Europe, pickup from Africa, etc. Just edited the article with a gallery redo I think we can work with. Can't we just stick with that?
