Paoy Paet ?

Google Maps spells it Paoy Paet. So why isn't that alternative referenced?216.96.78.59 (talk) 04:50, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

"Paoy Paet" is a pretty faithful attempt by Google to represents the actual Khmer pronunciation. But when the city became known to the West and maps were made, the whole area was part of Thailand so we have "Poipet" which represents the Thai pronunciation. That is how it is now known in English. The Google Maps transliteration is an aberration, I'm not aware of any other English source that uses that spelling and it's likely nobody would know what your were talking/writing about if they heard/saw "Paoy Paet".--William Thweatt ^TalkContribs 05:20, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
