I'm confused why this article refers to plover eggs as if they no longer exist or are no longer eaten as food. Plovers aren't extinct, even if it's rare and/or illegal for people to collect plover eggs due to conservation laws doesn't mean that they're literally no longer a foodstuff. @Ithinkiplaygames I wrote this from Los Angeles because I was researching a British spy (alleged) and one of the sources that mentioned him mentioned plover eggs, so I started reading about them too. I personally have never seen a plover nor eaten a plover egg! By all means update verb tenses and/or add citations showing that plover eggs are still consumed.
