Terminology
[edit]The term 'Arvanites' was once the generic name for all Albanians in demotic Greek. The term "Arvanites" and the category "Arvanite settlements" today are used for settlements of medieval Albanians in southern Greece. This category is not relevant for this article. - @Alltan and Alexikoua: Two RS, Korhonnen and Johannsen call them "Albanians". Koukoudis calls them "Arvanites" but at the same time he calls Muslim Albanians "Arnauts", that author has obvious issues with the outdated and misleading terms he uses to refer to people. - Koukoudis is fine. He also alternates in various terms for several groups of Aromanian populations such as Arvanitovlachs, Vlachs and so on in the text. He used various primary sources and so on, so he tried to strike a balance on the terms they were using in his text. He meant no malice. His work on Aromanians is solid and WP:RS. That said, obviously for wiki some nuance will be applied as yes outdated terminology is not apt, like for example we don't call Romani, "Gypsies", even if sadly some good RS of even recent times might do that etc. Scholarship in the Balkan area is improving on this front, like Aromanian is now common instead of "Vlach" etc. I did a deep dive on Plikati and added much content.
