Request to update copy entry and include HELM AG acquisition due to change in legal status

Hello! I am an employee of PEAT GmbH/Plantix, disclosing my Conflict of Interest (COI) in accordance with Wikipedia policy. Because of my affiliation, I am requesting that an objective editor review and implement the following update to the lead section to accurately reflect the company's current status and its May 2023 majority acquisition. Plantix is an agricultural technology company that operates an AI-driven digital ecosystem for small-scale farmers and agricultural supply chain partners. Originally launched as a mobile crop advisory application, the company has since expanded into a business-to-business (B2B) platform providing crop insights, API toolkit [1], and demand creation services for agricultural input manufacturers.

In May 2023, Helm AG, a German-based family-owned chemicals and distribution company, became the majority shareholder of Plantix (registered as PEAT GmbH).[2]

History

Plantix was founded in 2015 as PEAT GmbH by a team of scientists and developers in Berlin.[3] The company's initial focus was the development of a mobile crop advisory tool to assist small-scale farmers in identifying plant diseases through machine learning.

In April 2020, the company acquired the Swiss-Indian startup Salesbee to expand its retail and supply chain digitisation capabilities.[4] Following the majority acquisition by HELM AG in 2023, the company transitioned from a standalone advisory application toward a comprehensive B2B digital ecosystem.[2]

The company has been featured in major media outlets such as BBC, Fortune, Wired, MIT Technology Review, and Nature. It has also been awarded the CeBIT Innovation Award, the USAID Digital Smart Farming Award, and the World Summit Award by the United Nations.[5]

Plantix maintains long-term partnerships with international research institutes and inter-governmental organisations, including[6]:
