Talk:Placide Adams

I remember seeing Placide Adams perform in the mid 60s

When I was a child (7, 8, 9?), my mother would take me down to Bourbon St. to a place called Dixieland Hall. The band I knew best (I don't know the name) was headlined by the singer Blanche Thomas (who taught me how to braid my hair... probably because it was unkempt... in a new way, using an underhand braid. Also, my Mom bought one of Ms. Thomas's albums, "I Am Blue" that we listened to regularly). Paul Barbarain played drums. During the break, once, he let me come play his drums and use his brushes (I took drums in school at, then, Robert E. Lee Elementary under Mr. Kincaid. I was not talented.). Louis Cotrell played clarinet. I don't remember who played piano, but their was piano too.

But, what I wanted to add to this piece about Placide Adams is that when it was time for his solo, he would pick up his upright bass, hold it like a guitar, and rock out. The audience was always amazed. He was a performer as well as a musician. ~2026-97620-1 (talk) 05:21, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
