Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Piston effect. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Merge Tunnel boom into/and Piston effect?

[edit]

The articles overlap and do not link to each other. The effects are so closely related that merging would make sense. --Mopskatze (talk) 12:39, 17 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree; I'll go ahead and merge the two articles since nobody seems to object. Peter Beard (talk) 08:37, 24 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Please modify the links to other languages too. "Tunnel boom" had some links, but the lemma is not used any more. --83.228.190.62 (talk) 21:24, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

TGV-tunnel against Piston effect?

[edit]

Special entrance hoods need holes in the hood or special sound absorbing material or a form "like a trumpet" or .... So why this image shows a special hood against Piston effect? For me it looks like a standard hood, a little bit longer than the tunnel to protect the track against falling stones and other stuff. ... ???  Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.228.190.62 (talk) 21:29, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Tunnel boom cause

[edit]

In the article:

Tunnel boom is a loud boom sometimes generated by high-speed trains when they exit tunnels.

Shouldn’t that say the boom actually occurs on entry to the tunnel, due to the sudden compression of the air within?  Every video I’ve seen that concerns tunnel boom has it occurring well before the train exits.
