Please replace the spelling error "Puritain" with the correct "Puritan". 120.21.98.125 (talk) 01:29, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

British English?

[edit]

Both savoury and savory are used in the article. Has this been discussed before? I was just made aware of the MOS. I should have asked before removing the engvar tag that was recently added. If the addition was correct please undo my edit and make the article consistent. Is there some way for editors to know what spelling convention we should be using? For this we have MOS:RETAIN. Here is the article in 2007, using all British English. Thus, unless there is a pressing reason to change it, it stays in that dialect. John (talk) 15:57, 1 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Golem08 (talk) 21:00, 30 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Medieval Era

[edit]

These sentances don’t seem to make sense, and are also unsourced.

“ Medieval cooks had restricted access to ovens due to their costs of construction and need for abundant supplies of fuel. Since pies could be easily cooked over an open fire, this made pies easier for most cooks to make. At the same time, by partnering with a baker, a cook could focus on preparing the filling.”

Id assume they are trying to compare making pies to some other type of dish but i have no idea what dish a pies ease of cooking is being compared to because it is not stated. 2603:6080:5AF0:BC0:3C55:D295:A39E:F225 (talk) 20:07, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Pies?

[edit]

The lead states "A two-crust or double crust pie has the filling completely enclosed in the pastry shell" but that is not a Pie, it is a turnover. As per our own article which is referenced to the Oxford Companion to Food "The dough is then folded over and sealed, and is then cooked by either baking or frying". Aka one pie of dough. A pie either has a base and a top, or just a top. When there is just a base it is either a tart or a flan. That is again the correct technical term.
