The article lead has been going back and forth between American/Welsh/British, so I'd like to propose changing the lead sentence to reflect her almost life-long residency and connections to Wales to "Phyllis Kinney (July 4, 1922 – June 2026) was an American and Welsh singer...", with Welsh referring to nationality and not citizenship.
I've been reverting changes to British since no sources have been provided to establish British citizenship, but Welsh is a nationality. MOS:FIRSTBIO states "this will be the country, region, or territory where the person is currently a national or permanent resident", which in Kinney's case is Wales. The article has also been placed in quite a few categories that refer to her as Welsh: Welsh folk-song collectors, Welsh women centenarians, and 20th-century Welsh women singers, so this change will also resolve this discrepency. Hello, thanks for the ping. I think your proposed lead sentence is ideal, personally; her life was so much about Wales that it would seem churlish to paint her out. When I created this article, I put "American-born" mainly out of an abundance of caution and a lack of deep thought about it; I could never have expected the interest this page has had over the last few days.
