I made some improvements to the text, but upon further inspection it seems more like advertising and lacking notability. I'm still new to Wikipedia so I don't feel comfortable making the call or flagging it, but wanted to raise the question for others with more experience to contribute. malware?

Several sources report that the package was bundled with adware which is considered malware called OpenCandy. See here for example.

This anti-malware antivirus website wrote the following on the Setup.exe of PhotoScape:

  • Sample was identified as malicious by a large number of Antivirus engines
  • Sample was identified as malicious by at least one Antivirus engine
  • The analysis spawned a process that was identified as malicious
  • Installation/Persistance: Writes data to a remote process
