Subject is non notable. It is his son also named Phillips who is notable. His son is currently the article Samuel Phillips Payson. There was no such person as Samuel Phillips Payson. His name was Phillips Payson. GcSwRhIc (talk) 15:46, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Keep the persons separate. Subject was and is notable, just of the earlier generation. He was more active during the French and Indian War. He was the father (or uncle?) of a number of Protestant ministers, and was influential in guiding his congregation, and his town.
