Review
[edit]A few bits which stood out that might be worth looking at:
- Should Shillingston Street School be Shillington Street School?
- "Following the series, an anonymous letter to The Times, Warner was critical of Mead's batting." This doesn’t read right, is there a word missing?
- Should "contributed toward" be "contributed towards"?
- "despite his good for Hampshire" missing form?
- "After the conclusion of the war, Mead returned to a Hampshire team which had been decimated, having lost 24 players to the war." To me, this reads as 24 of those who played immediately prior to the War were killed, but some of the 24 would be considered former players as at 1914. Does it need re-wording?
- "Double century" is on occasions hyphenated or other occasions not
- "With 418 runs at an average of 104.50, he topped both the tourists batting aggregates and bowling averages." I presume this be batting averages?
- "his mastery of memorising field placements aided him in scoring single" singles?
- "His strength driving the ball would sometimes lead opposition captains to a Arlott would later write that his cutting and glancing of the ball was "almost unbelievably delicate"." Appears to a bit missing from the middle of this sentence

- @Jpeeling Thanks for the review. Good spots. No idea happened with the last point!!!! I have reworded the sentence which describes the pre-war situation Hampshire cricket found itself in. How does it read now? AA (talk) 10:11, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- That reads much better. For bullet point 2, should it read "in an anonymous letter to The Times"? JP (Talk) 12:26, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Excellent! Missed that one, it should indeed. JH said he has a quote from Thomson he will find, I'll take it to FA after. Thanks again! AA (talk) 12:51, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

I was going to add a bit by A.A. Thomson about his mannerisms at the crease, but I find that you've beaten me to it with Arlott's description of them, which is pretty much the same. JH (talk page) 08:49, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
- Haha, beat you to it :D I can't imagine how annoying bowling to Mead must have been with those mannerisms! AA (talk) 10:07, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
- He seems a bit like a left-handed version of Jonathan Trott. JH (talk page) 08:34, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
