[edit]Hello, There are some facts that should be added here. The Waiting Room was shortlisted for an Academy Award and won the Truer Than Fiction award at Independent Spirit Awards. These are both notable distinctions that should be included. Peter Nicks's film The Force premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2017 and director Peter Nicks won the director's prize. This festival is international known and worth noting, as is winning the director's prize. [edit]Nicks is a co-founder of Proximity Media, established with Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Zinzi Coogler, Ludwig Göransson, and Archie Davis. His recent directing credits include Anthem (2023), produced by Proximity Media and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival; Homeroom (2021), which received the inaugural Jonathan Oppenheim Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival; and Stephen Curry: Underrated (2023), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His earlier films include The Force (2017), winner of the Sundance Film Festival Directing Prize, and The Waiting Room (2012), which was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Nicks is also the founder of Open’hood, Inc., a Bay Area nonprofit that produces independent documentaries, and he serves on the board of trustees of the Sundance Institute. In addition to directing, he works as a cinematographer, producer, and writer, and is an executive producer of Voices Rising: The Music of Wakanda Forever.
