Misuse of "work" parameter

[edit]

The "work" parameter in the "cite web" refs has been used to provide text extracts or summaries from the source (in German). While this can be helpful to readers of German, it is not what the parameter is intended for. I had not seen this in other articles up to now, but I vaguely remember seeing a recent discussion on the topic. Thoughts? Jmar67 (talk) 10:45, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I looked at it, replacing those "work" that meant "quote" by quote, and dropping some alltogether. In one case, it seemed to mean "title". I removed one longish which was basically the same in two papers. I confess that I never look at these things ;) - thank you for pointing it out. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:08, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
