Persis history during Safavid empire

[edit]

12:04, November 16, 2021 - «WP:GF; by that time it wasnt known as Persis anymore, but as Fars.»
10:59, November 16, 2021 - «‎Safavid empire»
10:59, November 16, 2021

@LouisAragon: Considering that Persis was a part of the Fars Province during Safavid empire I propose to keep my section and allow someone else to expand Persis history in context of Safavid rule. I don't get why you reverting such a logical thing.

"Persis" is a Greco-Roman designation for the region that was natively known as Parsa and as Pars by the Sasanian era. In the post-Islamic era, the region was known as Fars. They are synonyms used in different time periods for a region in Iranian history.
  • "and allow someone else to expand"
We could add empty sections for thousands of Wikipedia articles; won't make the readability any better I'm afraid. Furthermore, it would mean we are skipping many hundreds of years of history (e.g. Buyids, Seljuks, etc.).
The term "Persis" had long fallen into disuse by the Safavid era. There are literally zero English-language WP:RS that attest to a "Persis" when dealing about the Safavid period. Safavid-related info would belong at the Fars Province page, per WP:RS. At least for now. I will create a "Safavid Fars" article at some point in the future. - LouisAragon (talk) 13:53, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@LouisAragon: I propose to create subsection pointing out that the history of region continued as part of history of Fars: replace Safavid Empire in [10:59, November 16, 2021] by Fars instead (+ remove latter from See also as duplicate). This will improve readability immensely and make a historical follow-up logical relative to the region's development over time. As someone who is unfamiliar with the history It was hard for me to figure out what happened to the Persis after Sasanian Empire. AXONOV (talk) 18:46, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Agree that it should be mentioned that Persis continued as Fars. However, exactly for that reason Safavid history should be placed in the latter article and not here in Persis. --HistoryofIran (talk) 11:14, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
