Is per-sl-/àd the correct IPA pronounciation?Freddiefreelance (talk) 15:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can't tell what the last vowel is supposed to be. kwami (talk) 12:27, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
What you've provided here isn't in accord with IPA, but the transcription in the text itself is plausible. It's not a very good approximation of the French pronunciation, but a reasonable one of how persillade would be pronounced in English. There are, however, some complications concerning the final vowel. In British and Canadian English (and perhaps elsewhere in the Commonwealth; I don't know), the usual strategy in adopting foreign words is to replace their low vowel (typically IPA: [a], more or less) with the English front low vowel /æ/. In American English, the usual strategy is to use the back low vowel /ɑ/ instead. MJM74 (talk) 20:03, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The standard French pronunciation is pɛʀsijad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toronto2301 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
