This article is written in British English with Oxford and IUPAC spelling (colour, realize, organization, analyse; note that -ize is used instead of -ise; aluminium, sulfur, caesium) and some terms may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Periodic table is a featured article; it (or a previous version of it) has been identified as one of the best articles produced by the Wikipedia community. Even so, if you can update or improve it, please do so.

Really, *inner* electrons? That is unintuitive. If the statement is correct it needs some extra words to make that clear - perhaps just put (sic) after "inner". ~2025-33904-40 (talk) 03:15, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

The cited article, Kragh 2012, doesn't support that statement: According to Bohr, the chemical similarity between elements in the same group was a result of the atoms having the same number of electrons in the outermost ring (and not, as J.
