This area is a productive fishing spot but is difficult to access, either on foot or by boat. It's quite a walk and shallow water, submerged rocks, unpredictable currents and the tide keep most anglers off these rocks.

  • ESPN films a fishing tournament in this area.(red fish/Drum)
  • All the park structures are new post Katrina
  • The bridge is a popular walking / jogging / biking route
  • The Marine Police Station is located under the bridge
  • The speed limit of 45 mph is strictly enforced at all times
  • There are shaded Parking places under the bridge
  • Open wifi access
  • Webcams monitor this area

June 02/2008 Construction is still underway, several barges, and terrestrial construction equipment continue to blemish the beach area under the bridge on the East Side
