According to the Dutch and Frisian Wikipedia pages, 'peper' is an old word for a type of a bulrush common in the area (the bulrush was commonly used in basket weaving). Apart from the fact that it is not clear what "the village was moved" actually means, is it even true? The reference given is a book that purports to explain the meaning of names of "all Frisian cities, villages, and hamlets", but why would such a book contain this information? A google search did not find any reference to this supposed fact, and neither the Dutch nor the Frisian Wikipedia mentions it.108.234.224.230 (talk) 08:41, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
