I just removed "from Italian panucci" from the first sentence (then logged in, oops). This idea is extremely prevalent online, and I have found no reputable sources. The information was added in 2011 by a user who was not logged in and left no references, comments, or breadcrumbs. The article now contains etymology information with citations, which point to Spanish and not Italian as the language of origin. - Teaganbread (talk) 15:45, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
