Swan image

I'm pretty sure the image of "a 'pelican' wounding its breast to feed its chicks" under the Christianity section is actually a Swan with white doves alongside it. The pelican wounding itself to feed its young is a common medieval Christian and esoteric symbol, the problem is, many artists had probably never seen a pelican before. So I agree it doesn't look like a pelican, but it's intended to be one. Pyrrho the Skipper (talk) 14:23, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Pelecanus age

it says that Pelecanus (the genus) is 36 million years old but isn't that the age of Eopelecanus? Are there fossils of Pelecanus this old? Codigomorse (talk) 23:14, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

The paper it links to says clearly that the 36 million years old fossil was identified as a different genus Codigomorse (talk) 23:16, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
