Suggestions for further article improvements

[edit]

I recently updated the "Operational Service" section with details on the Finnish XA-180 life-cycle upgrade and deployments to Mali/Ukraine. Based on general knowledge about the vehicle, I believe the article could be further improved in the following areas:

Technical & Development Details

[edit]
  • Variant Specifications: The "Variants" section could be enhanced by clarifying the specific differences between the series, particularly the armor protection levels (e.g., the 200-series armor against 14.5 mm rounds) and the amphibious capabilities of the earlier models.
  • Historical Context: The article should prominently mention that the Pasi was originally developed to replace the Soviet BTR-60PB APCs in Finnish service.
  • Nomenclature: Add a brief explanation in the "Design" section regarding the naming convention (e.g., XA-180 referring to the 180 kW engine output).

Succession and Operators

[edit]
  • Successors: The article should state that the XA-series production has ended and clarify the roles of the Patria AMV and the new Patria 6x6 vehicles as its modern successors.
  • Operators Review: Review the "Operators" section to ensure all historical and current users (including those in UN/EU missions) are accurately listed.

Recent Events and Verifiability

[edit]
  • Finnish MLU Scope: We should confirm and clarify the scope of the Finnish Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) programs. In addition to the 65 XA-180s, there was a larger program aimed at updating around 200 vehicles to secure service life into the 2040s. This needs to be checked and added for completeness.
  • Ukraine Losses Source: The loss count in the "Operational service" section should ideally have its source (e.g., Oryx or similar tracker) explicitly cited for better verifiability, rather than using a general reference name. Lehrling18 (talk) 22:56, 26 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
