There are also Patnaiks from Andhra Pradesh hailing from the border regions between Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. Traditionally they are the people with the same professions as the ones in Orissa. The word 'Patta' means a land ownership document and Pattanaik or Patnaik is derived from the fact that most people from this caste dealt with Revenue accounting.Those pattnaik's are also from Originated from orisssa. when those areas of Andhra are in Oriya kings control they put those pattnaik's there as the authorities.

Pattanayak
[edit]Pattanayak redirects to this page, but the page does not include a link to one name that uses the longer spelling: Debi Prasanna Pattanayak. Are Patnaik and Pattanayak always the same (i.e., just different spellings/transliterations), and should a link to the D.P. Pattanayak article be added?--A12n (talk) 15:31, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
