Slendo, pelog, nem & lima
[edit]According to Barry Drummond and other ethnomusicologists, Slendro Nem and Pelog Lima are the lowest pathet and transfer to one another- not Slendro Nem and Pelog Nem. Slendro Nem favors gong tone 2 and Slendro Sanga favors gong tone 5, while Pelog Nem favors gong tone 5 and Pelog Lima favors gong tone 1. Furthermore, the parallels to "dominant" and "tonic" are misleading, and Pelog Barang has a range of possible gong tones. For this reason, it might be more ideal to replace the chart given with an examination of each pathet in order. Bassedancer (talk)
- I would guess the table is based on Hood, whose theory is indeed not universally endorsed. But by "transfer" do you mean there are pieces played in both pelog lima and slendro nem? I cant think of any off the top of my head... There is a correspondence both of range and of sequence in time, the last being a common Javanese definition of pather that ia not yet covered in the article.Sparafucil (talk) 06:40, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
