Definition

The article says:

"Pasokification is the decline of centre-left social-democratic political parties in Europe and several other Western countries during the 2010s and the simultaneous rise of nationalist, left-wing and right-wing populist alternatives."

Should the rise of nationalism etc. really be included in the definition of the term? An alternative phrasing could be:

"Pasokification is the decline of centre-left social-democratic political parties in Europe and several other Western countries during the 2010s, often accompanied by the rise of nationalist, left-wing and right-wing populist alternatives."

Too many examples and not enough explanations

As it currently stands most of the article is just a page of examples, like "the Social Democratic Party of [Country X] lost Y amount of seats in the year 2022". There should be more written about what exactly Pasokification is, how it happened happened. I am sure there have been plenty of academic papers published about it so again this article needs actual information, not just a list of examples. Rousillon (talk) 19:22, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

Pasokification → ? – This seems to be another gross WP:SYNTH violation, because there's no indication of sources connecting all of these events into a coherent whole. At the same time, this term is generally fairly unknown, cf. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%2Fg%2F11dyzlvwz0&hl=en When I saw this I initially thought AfD was the best venue, but the Talk page indicates there was already a discussion for a merger from decline of center-left parties five years ago, albeit a sparsely attended one and one where consensus was declared somewhat curiously - but at the same time none of those people said it was unsalvageable. So let's try reassessing the title first - should this niche term continue to be used, or should we use a more descriptive title? --Joy (talk) 21:32, 3 January 2026 (UTC)

• Oppose: Google Scholar does attest to the term being used to describe the decline of centre-left parties outside of Greece since the decline of PASOK (indeed, as far as the UK goes, going the way of PASOK – and using PASOK as an example! – has been something that Labour circles have been dreading since the Miliband days.).
