• Comment:: Parting phrase is a grammatical term identifying a category of phrase, or a verbal expression. It is not synonymous with all kinds of parting tradition which would cover waving goodbye, hugging, etc.
• Comment:: It may be worth merging for now, however, both articles could also be researched and expanded to fuller discussions. I came here to find God be with you and that wasnt even listed and redirected to a song.--Metallurgist (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

Parting gesture

The term has two meaning: literal (waving, handshake, hugging, kissing, etc.) and idiomatic/figurative: "As he pulled out of the glide, his turret gunner sent a burst of .50 caliber slugs into the conning tower as a parting gesture."
