Stock symbol - NYSE listing ?

The link to NYSE stock symbol PA is broken. Apparently the company is no longer listed on NYSE?

It should be noted that the link to the PanAmSat site in the External links section of the article now redirects to Intelsat's corporate website, perhaps Intelsat now own their former would-be rival? - 195.188.42.162 12:48, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

where are these guys headquartered?

PanAmSat was located in Greenwich, Conn. Intelsat, the new combined Intelsat and PanAmSat is headquartered in Washington DC. Since this is now a historical perspective, it should probably reflect the Greenwich, Conn location. LugioBicicletta (talk) 04:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Rene Anselmo's Panamsat early days

There are two important "details" missing in this article: - 1 - about the very beginning of Panamsat: Rene Anselmo had bought from GE Astro "Contel ASC3" for a fraction of its price. Then he had contracted Arianespace to launch it on the first Ariane 4 launcher for free! It was Ariane 22nd launch (V22) and there were three other passengers: Meteosat P2, Amsat PIIIC and Oscar 13 (these two being microsatellites) With such a start you can imagine the immediate cash-flow produced by PAS1! In less than one year the purchase "low" cost of PAS1 was covered and PAS1 was generating profits. A modern fairytale for Rene Anselmo.

- 2 - about Panamsat logo and motto: as mentioned in the article Rene Anselmo wanted to challenge Intelsat and the following motto was part of Panamsat logo: "Truth and technology will triumph over bullshit and bureaucracy". The center of the logo showed Spot, Anselmo's cherished dog pissing on the floor. That created some diplomatic incidents in Kourou when Japanese customers for instance being Ariane's lower passengers refused to accept Panamsat logo being shown on top of their logo on TV before the launch (I have an Ariane fairing photo showing Panamsat logo sticker in place)

Those "details" became a legend at Arianespace and at Guiana Space Center where I used to work a few years after PAS1 launch. A true legend that is! Being French, I wouldn't dare writing a modification to the text of the article. I realize that the above details are not part of the French version either, which means that nobody at Arianespace has taken the time to share these anecdotes. PANAMSAT Controversial advertisements and Cartoons

PANAMSAT used the major media to argue their case in front of the public for private north atlantic communications services in competition to Intelsat.

These ads were controversial because they used cartoon images of a dog peeing on Intelsat and comparing commercial providers to refugees.

Pan Am

Before clicking on the link I assumed this was a subsidiary of Pan Am, the famous airline. Given that the satellite company was founded while Pan Am was still in operation, did the airline object? Furthermore, does PanAmSat stand for something? Is it just PanAmSat, or is it formally Pan American Satellite Corporation? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 10:30, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
