Disputed parentage of Fanny Palliser

[edit]

Most genealogical publications (e.g. Debrett Baronetage of England; Burke, A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Ireland (London, 1899) p.397; Burkes Peerage Ltd, Burke's Irish Family Records (London, 1976)), indicate that Sir Hugh Palliser (1768-1813) and his wife Mary nee Gates had three children: Sir Hugh Palliser Palliser; Mary Ann Rachel Palliser; and Mary Jane Palliser. The current version (24 January 2023) of this article shows a fourth child, Fanny Palliser, born in 1809 who married Jean Baptiste Museur. However, according to Belgium Marriage Notices 1792-1899 the Fanny Palliser who married Jean Baptiste Museur in 1834 (divorced 1854) was the daughter of Huges Palliser and Marie Ann Drayton.
