New version is out.
[edit]PT 6.0.1 has been out for a while now and it seems the Wikipedia article should be updated. PT 6.1.1 has been officially out a week ago, so i'm adding 6.1.1 new feature and changing the current stable version to 6.1.1.

PT 7.2 has been out, can someone with expertise in Wikipedia articles update the necessary information? I updated some minor things regarding PT 7.2.

The software is available to students who are taking Cisco Network Academy courses, which Cisco has cited as having over 800,000 students (and has also cited as having over 700,000 students). Although the software may have restricted distribution, this proprietary software is therefore notable. Presumably it is up to a class instructor to determine how much the class requires students to use Packet Tracer. In my experience going through a course, physical hardware was fairly available and so Packet Tracer did not get used a whole lot, but it did get used somewhat. As the Lead Instructor of an IT program of a private college which was not using the Cisco Network Academy courses, I remember a student request for this software. Many IT industry professionals have some familiarity with the software. It certainly seems conceivable that there is interest in this software and that people may want to learn more about it. 63.231.28.164 (talk) 16:47, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Original Release Date
